About The Position

The Health & Human Services - Agency 25 is seeking an Infectious Disease Data Coordinator to plan the development and implementation of vital statistics and various infectious disease program data collection and reporting. This role is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of vital statistics and various infectious disease program data collection and reporting. The coordinator will serve on project teams to establish electronic data collection methods, train data providers on equipment and data collection tools, and develop data collection and evaluation methodologies. This position also serves as a liaison between the Division and external program partners, consults with staff on data coding issues, and works with medical professionals to develop and implement appropriate data recording and collection systems. The role contributes to program written reports and represents the Infectious Disease Program through health data presentations. Additionally, the coordinator develops and implements evaluation methodology related to various health data programs and identifies training and technical assistance needs of data providers.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Statistics or related field and one year experience in statistics, data collection, data management or related area OR Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or related field plus three years experience in any of the above or related area.
  • Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
  • Knowledge of computer applications for data collection.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of data management.
  • Knowledge of data collection, utilization, and validation.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies.
  • Knowledge of report designs.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Skills in presenting information to others to convey information.
  • Skills in teaching others so they understand.
  • Ability to learn and apply agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret data.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with data providers and department staff.
  • Ability to interpret and report on data collected.
  • Ability to prepare and present information to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to work independently, with an internal team, or as a member of an external workgroup.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, development, and implementation of vital statistics and various infectious disease program data collection and reporting.
  • Serving on project teams to establish electronic data collection methods.
  • Training data providers on equipment and data collection tools, including procedures for data preparation, data cleaning, standardization, analysis, and reporting.
  • Developing data collection and evaluation methodologies, including format design, project criteria and requirements, data compilation, relevancy, and usage.
  • Serving as liaison between the Division and external program partners.
  • Consulting with staff on data coding issues and assisting in developing means to correct those problems.
  • Working with medical professionals and medical records personnel in the development and implementation of an appropriate data recording and collection system to obtain requested data.
  • Contributing to program written reports resulting from data collected.
  • Representing the Infectious Disease Program through developing and providing health data presentations to various groups.
  • Developing and implementing evaluation methodology related to various health data programs to determine completeness and adequacy of the data collection procedure.
  • Identifying training and technical assistance needs of data providers.
  • Assisting with the development of training plans and providing on-going consultation and technical assistance.
