About The Position

As a Infectious Disease Coordinator within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of PHN experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Three years of PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
ERN trained with at least 2 years of PH experience.

Experience working in TB, HIV and STI clinics desired.

Responsibilities

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff.
Supervises and plans work of assigned staff.
Provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.
Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
Identifies high risk populations and tailors interventions based on the needs of the population and resources available.
Provides treatments, administers medications/vaccines, and provides preventative maintenance care to patient/families consistent with care plan and/or physician treatment plan; Screens and refers clients to other community service providers
Provides clinical services t0 target population, including DOT
Applies principals of population health to practice; Conducts comprehensive assessments of client's healthcare needs
Conducts community needs assessment
Develops comprehensive plan of care
Modifies client treatment plans as indicated by clients' responses and conditions
Provides health education instruction and/or classes to to individuals, families, and populations for the promotion and maintenance of health including TST training classes
Coordinates program services with other service providers and community organizations to promote optimal implementation
Develops and sustains community partnerships
Assists other staff with understanding and applying the principles of population health practice
Coordinates activities of mentors for new nurses and/or preceptors for nursing students
Manage specific program activities and/or specific program evaluations
Participates in drills and exercises on pandemics, mass sheltering, and mass dispensing.
Will complete Expanded Role Nurse training to work in other programs/clinics in the health department.
All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD).
If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
