About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking an aspiring Infection Preventionist I to join their team and develop expertise in infection prevention and control (IPC). This role involves learning and implementing fundamental IPC components such as surveillance, outbreak investigations, rounding, and caregiver education. The primary focus will be on surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, including chart review, data abstraction, data collection, and applying National Health and Safety Network (NHSN) definitions. Additionally, the role will involve developing knowledge and skills in other IPC practices like education program design, policy and procedure review, construction, accreditation readiness, high-level disinfection and sterilization, and participation in quality improvement activities to promote patient safety. Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, biology or other scientifically / health science related field required
  • Two- three (2-3) years of healthcare related experience (i.e. Nursing, Respiratory, Medical Laboratory, Pharmacy) required
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) Certification Board of Infection within 24 months required
  • Appropriate clinical license required (DE RN license, Respiratory, Pharmacy)
  • MD license required for Cecil campus

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nursing, public health, biology or other scientifically / health science related field preferred
