Requirements

  • Have primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or another related field
  • Be qualified by education, training, experience or certification
  • Have completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
  • Participation on quality assessment and assurance committee.
  • Complete training by APIC, CDC, SHEA or other state approved sources or be certified by CBIC or NADONA or have 5 yrs. experience in Infection Control.
  • Current with all Continuing Education (CE) requirements
  • Perform clinical care professionally
  • Serve as patient advocate and role model to other Team Members
  • Ability to effectively work on a multidisciplinary team
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • An individual certified by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology or meets the requirements under N.J.A.C. 8:39-20.2 or A physician who has completed an infectious disease fellowship or A healthcare professional licensed and in good standing by the State of New Jersey

Nice To Haves

  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Current and valid Nursing License in the State of New Jersey
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Previous Infection Control/Prevention experience is a plus
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Performing surveillance of the population for infection
  • Developing and implementing educational programs
  • Maintaining professional relationships with all departments
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge for the practice of infection control
  • Managing within the established infection control standards and management protocols
  • Presenting at new hire orientation
  • Facilitating problem identification and interventions
  • Performing analysis of Infection Control Data
  • Completing Infection Control Risk assessment and updating same as needed
  • Collaborating with facility, network, other hospitals, local and state health department to ensure updated adherence to recommended infection prevention and control practices
