About The Position

The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The IP serves as a subject matter expert, collaborating with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention requirements. The designated person will be given the authority to implement and enforce the Surveillance, Prevention and Control Program policies, coordinate all infection prevention and control within the hospital and facilitate ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and/or control activities and interventions.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field.
  • Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (i.e., CIC preferred) or, attainment within 2 years after employment required; and maintains Certification.
  • RN Licensure

Nice To Haves

  • Masters of Public Health
  • Minimum one year of experience in Infection Prevention
  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care setting
