About The Position

Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus is seeking an Infection Preventionist Registered Nurse to join their team. This role will assist in the development of the employee health program, including infection surveillance, immunization, exposure prevention, and post-exposure evaluation. The Infection Preventionist will investigate epidemic or endemic hospital-acquired infections and monitor, report, and assist in the hospital's compliance with national, state, county, and local health department rules and regulations pertinent to hospital infection control. They will also assist in selecting effective and cost-efficient antiseptics, disinfectants, sterilization methods, waste disposal methods, other infection control-related products, and laundry systems. The position involves serving as a member of the Infection Prevention Committee, assisting in the development of infection prevention policies and procedures for each hospital department, and staying up-to-date on current developments in Infection Prevention through literature review and attendance at workshops, seminars, or formal education courses. The role includes conducting ongoing surveillance of infections in hospital patients and employees according to CDC guidelines, assisting in the implementation of isolation policies and procedures for patients based on the mode of transmission of infectious diseases, and providing educational programs relevant to Infection Prevention to hospital employees.

Requirements

  • BSN
  • 2 years Nursing/Patient Care

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years’ Experience as an Infection Preventionist
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
  • Within 36 months

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of aspects of the employee health program that includes employee infection surveillance, immunization, exposure prevention, and post-exposure evaluation.
  • Investigate epidemic or endemic hospital-acquired infections.
  • Monitor, report, and assist in the hospital's compliance with national, state, county and local health department rules and regulation pertinent to hospital infection control.
  • Assist the hospital in selecting the most effective and most cost-efficient antiseptics, disinfectants, sterilization methods, waste disposal method, other infection control related products and laundry system.
