Generations at Applewood, IL, has an Opening for a Nursing Home Infection Preventionist. Must be either an RN. This is a Full Time Position with a Salary Range of $40 per hour for LPNs but RNs would be salaried at $93,600 a year. Hours are flexible, and include weekend rotation with other managers. Generations at Applewood is a 24-hour rehabilitation and skilled nursing community offering quality healthcare services to senior residents throughout the Chicagoland area. Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold a current RN license from the State of Illinois
  • Infection Prevention Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
  • At minimum, CDC Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Certification required, with a minimum of 19 training hours
  • Must have working knowledge of general nursing and geriatric nursing
  • Knowledge of JCAHO, OBRA, IDPH, HFS regulations
  • Compassion, tolerance and understanding of older adults

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing leadership experience is preferred
  • You must be regulatory compliance and data analysis proficient
  • Experience developing policies and procedures required
  • You must either already be IP certified or attain IPC certified within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the facility's infection prevention program
  • Support the facility's philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives
  • Establish the documentation format for all Infection Control reporting
  • Establish specific policies and procedures for Infection Control as it relates to the following departments: nursing; maintenance; laundry; dietary; rehabilitation; and ancillary services
  • Monitor the documentation of incidents of infection and file for reporting and analysis
  • Address patterns or trends in the incidents of infection with appropriate follow-up and corrective action
  • Supervise the performance of the corrective procedures by designated departments or individual staff
  • Establish the objectives of Infection Control education to residents & staff and provide training, facilitate - in-services
  • Work as weekend Supervisor as part of Department head monthly rotation
