Abstracts, collects and analyzes data on healthcare events to reduce the incidence of such events and to protect patients, staff and visitors from organism/infections transmission or other quality and safety concerns. Informs clinical personnel of pertinent data on adverse healthcare associated events and quality of care outcomes. Performs analytic activities on assigned divisions recording demographic /clinical risk information as well as information on adverse outcomes including defined healthcare associated events to ensure safe quality care to all patients. Visits assigned patient, inpatient or ambulatory care areas at designated intervals for the purpose of collecting pertinent information concerning patients with community and hospital acquired infections and other adverse healthcare associated events as determined by pre-defined surveillance criteria. Plans work schedule to complete assigned reviews in a timely fashion as observed by supervisors. Accurately uses electronic systems to record clinical information and adverse outcome data. This includes data entry, data correction and regular updating of records as necessary.
