About The Position

We are currently hiring for a full time Infection Prevention Specialist within the Medical Staff Quality department here at Aspen Valley Health. The Infection Prevention Nurse is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the hospital's infection prevention and control program in accordance with CMS Conditions of Participation for Critical Access Hospitals, CDC/NHSN guidelines, state health department regulations, and Joint Commission accreditation standards. This role also carries some quality support responsibilities, working across departments to monitor performance metrics, support survey readiness, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an acute care or critical access hospital setting.
  • Strong understanding of infection control principles, epidemiology basics, and regulatory frameworks (CMS CoPs, CDC/NHSN).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting data to committees and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple regulatory deadlines independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
  • Experience with NHSN reporting platform.
  • Prior experience in a quality, risk management, or performance improvement role.
  • Epic experience
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
