About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a medical professional to serve as Infection Prevention Specialist. This employee works Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, 40 hours per week. Occasional weekends on call are required. This is a hybrid position that will allow you to work from home but also will require your presence in the facility. As such, you must reside within driving distance of an Essentia Health facility. This position supports the Essentia Health infection prevention program, with a focus on skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, home care, and hospice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or another healthcare-related field.
• 2 years clinical experience in a patient care setting (prefer inpatient/hospital setting), medical lab, public health, infection prevention, or closely related field.
• CIC certification is required within 2 years of hire.

Nice To Haves

• EPIC experience is preferred.
• current CIC certification.
• 2 years of experience as an Infection Prevention Specialist or similar infection prevention role.

Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to assure the safety of patients, personnel, visitors, and the community.
• Compiling, analyzing, and disseminating infection prevention data.
• Reviewing and recommending changes in practice when indicated.
• Providing education consistent with best practice standards and requirements of regulatory agencies, e.g., TJC, OSHA, and the goals and mission of Essentia.
• Proficient in healthcare-associated infection surveillance, data entry, and data analysis.
• Implements and monitors the Infection Prevention program and practices.
