Requirements

  • Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
  • Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse & CPR Certification
  • Five years of experience as an LPN
  • Knowledge of federal and state infection control regulations.
  • Ability to work with people with physical and mental disabilities, including those using profanity, derogatory language and the like.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Tolerate potential exposure to blood, body tissues, and fluids with occasional exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment.
  • Ability to travel as needed or assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in infection control, healthcare, or related field preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing program.
  • one year of experience in an infection control position strongly preferred.
  • Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
  • Specialty training in Infection Prevention and Control through accredited continuing education
  • Must be nationally certified in Infection Prevention and Control by NADONA (IP-BC Credential) or completed APIC EPI Intensive Training for Long Term Care, or Certified in Infection Control through Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring infection control policies and procedures across the facility
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards
  • Educate staff, patients, and visitors on infection control practices and protocols
  • Collect and analyze data related to infection rates and report findings to the infection control team
  • Support outbreak investigations and participate in infection prevention initiatives
  • Maintain accurate documentation of infection control activities and incidents
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and update infection control strategies
