About The Position

This job is responsible for the initiation of Infection Control measures throughout the system according to accepted standards and regulatory requirements. Responsible for maintaining records and prepares reports related to infection control data; infection surveillance activities to identify, document, and assist in resolution of nosocomial infection issues; maintains IC policies and procedures congruent with state and regulatory agencies and assures compliance with same; plans, develops, and directs staff education related to infection control policies and standards; identifies actual/potential patient and employee exposures and responds in accordance with CDC recommendations, regulatory requirements, and company policy. This job maintains professional relationship with physicians, employees, and leaders as they assist in identification and reduction of infection control concerns. Effectively communicates infection control concerns to IC Committee Chairperson and Employee Health Physician as appropriate; and develops and circulates minutes of the Infection Control Committee Meetings as facilitator of this committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration or related field
  • 2 years experience in a clinical setting
  • One year Infection control experience
  • Knowledge of basic biology
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Delegation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration or related field
  • Certified Infection Control certification

Responsibilities

  • Initiate Infection Control measures throughout the system according to accepted standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports related to infection control data.
  • Conduct infection surveillance activities to identify, investigate, document, and assist in resolution of nosocomial infection issues.
  • Maintain IC policies and procedures congruent with state and regulatory agencies and assure compliance.
  • Plan, develop, and direct staff education related to infection control policies and standards.
  • Identify actual/potential patient and employee exposures and respond in accordance with CDC recommendations, regulatory requirements, and company policy.
  • Maintain professional relationships with physicians, employees, and leaders to assist in identification and reduction of infection control concerns.

  • Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
