About The Position
Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking caring Early Head Start Teachers to work with 1- and 2-year-old children in nurturing, individualized classrooms. The role involves building secure relationships and helping young children reach important early milestones. The starting rate is up to $18 per hour, with a schedule of Monday–Friday 7:30 am-3:30 pm (40 hours/week). Eligible early childhood educators may also qualify for NC Early Years supplemental compensation programs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Infant/Toddler CDA credential preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for early childhood education and family engagement
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.

Responsibilities
- Provide nurturing care and supervision for infants and toddlers
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities and routines
- Develop secure, responsive relationships with children
- Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment
- Observe and assess children’s developmental progress
- Communicate regularly with families regarding children’s growth and daily activities
- Conduct parent conferences and home visits as required
- Collaborate with classroom staff and support specialists
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements
