About The Position

Apple Playschools is an early childhood educational center in Ann Arbor that offers outdoor immersion and Spanish immersion programs. They aim to provide progressive early education for a better world, focusing on play-based education, emergent curriculum, anti-bias education, the Reggio Emilia approach, and social justice, often involving muddy and messy activities. As a Flex/Float Teacher, you will support Apprentice and Mentor teachers in delivering high-quality early childhood education, aligning with the school's mission and vision. This role may involve substituting for other teachers as needed, performing simple cleaning, and food preparation, potentially at various sites.

Requirements

Be age 16 or older
Be able to pass all required background checks and criminal history review
Meet LARA licensing education requirements appropriate to the assigned role
Be able to be “on your feet” for most of the day
Hold, carry, or lift to 25 pounds
Work outside in all weather conditions

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working with children
Prior experience and love of the outdoors

Responsibilities

Support Apprentice and Mentor teachers in providing high-quality early childhood education, in alignment with our mission and vision
Substitute for another teacher as needed
Perform simple cleaning and food preparation
Substitute at other sites on occasion
Design learning activities and create unforgettable experiences
Provide exceptional partnerships with students, parents, and community members
Contribute to a fun, welcoming, and organized environment
Ensure the safety of participants, reporting any concerns as per licensing guidelines
