About The Position

Arcadis' Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO) team is seeking an experienced Industrial Water Wastewater Process Engineer with 7+ years of consulting engineering experience to contribute to our expanding portfolio of industrial water and wastewater related design projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects, apply processes and technologies for physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation and crystallization. You will receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer, delegate engineering or scientific calculations/ drawings to junior staff, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions. You will also support the implementation of projects from study phase through design, construction, startup and commissioning, and operation and maintenance of treatment systems. This is a hybrid position supporting client facilities and projects throughout the United States, with occasional international travel opportunities. Candidates residing in one of the following locations are preferred but not required: Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; Tampa, FL; Indianapolis, IN; Novi, MI; Philadelphia, PA; Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; and Houston, TX. This role is an immediate hiring priority for the team.

Requirements

7+ years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering
Understanding of industrial wastewater treatment systems
Experience designing water and wastewater projects
Experience preparing construction documents, including mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical reports, and O&M manuals
Proficient in performing engineering calculations using tools such as Excel and Mathcad
Proficient in developing equipment and piping specifications
Proficient in coordinating within multidisciplinary project teams
Experience providing guidance and mentorship to early-career engineers

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in engineering or a related field of study with focus on wastewater treatment process engineering
Professional engineer registration in one or more states

Responsibilities

Function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects
Apply processes and technologies for physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation and crystallization
Receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer
Delegate engineering or scientific calculations/ drawings to junior staff
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions
Support implementation of projects from study phase through design, construction, startup and commissioning, and operation and maintenance of treatment systems
Assist in developing and preparing process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects
Field work will be required, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing at client sites or in our lab, etc.
Assist with system commissioning and start-up, including training plant staff
Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
Manage projects as necessary to meet both client and Arcadis’ expectations
Supporting business development including proposal preparation and meetings with clients
Travel as needed for meetings, site visits, etc. (up to 25%)
