About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Industrial Water Wastewater Process Engineer with 7+ years of consulting engineering experience to join their Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO) team. This role involves functioning as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects, applying various treatment processes and technologies, receiving technical mentoring, delegating tasks to junior staff, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and supporting projects from study through operation and maintenance. This is a hybrid position supporting clients across the United States, with occasional international assignments. Candidates residing in the SoCal market are preferred.

Requirements

7+ years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering
Understanding of industrial wastewater treatment systems
Experience designing water and wastewater projects and preparing construction documents, including mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical reports, and O&M manuals
Proficient in performing engineering calculations using tools such as Excel and Mathcad
Proficient in developing equipment and piping specifications
Proficient in coordinating within multidisciplinary project teams
Provide guidance and mentorship to early-career engineers
Assist in developing and preparing process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects
Field work will be required, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing at client sites or in our lab, etc.
Assist with system commissioning and start-up, including training plant staff

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in engineering or a related field of study with focus on wastewater treatment process engineering
Professional engineer registration in one or more states

Responsibilities

Function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects
Apply processes and technologies for physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation and crystallization
Receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer
Delegate engineering or scientific calculations/ drawings to junior staff
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions
Support implementation of projects from study phase through design, construction, startup and commissioning, and operation and maintenance of treatment systems
Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
Manage projects as necessary to meet both client and Arcadis’ expectations
Support business development including proposal preparation and meetings with clients
Travel as needed for meetings, site visits, etc. (up to 25%)
