About The Position

The Industrial Robotics and Controls Engineer will be responsible for programming industrial robotics in various manufacturing environments, utilizing robot simulation software for design and testing, and assisting with end-of-arm tooling design. This role involves adhering to RIA standards for safety, collaborating with PLC Engineers, developing robot code, energizing electrical systems, and setting up hardware. The position also includes assisting with on-site installation, startup, and commissioning, creating user manuals, assessing control systems, and troubleshooting. The engineer will develop automation designs by studying customer requirements, researching manufacturing methods, and contributing to project objectives and costs. They will work with the entire team, interface with customers, and participate in field installation, service, and commissioning of drive control systems. Responsibilities also include manufacturing checkout, customer shop tests, managing commissioning, approving commissioning plans, reviewing designs, supervising onsite commissioning, and training users. The role requires maintaining system integrity and complying with regulations.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or relevant work experience.
  • Robot programming experience.
  • Strong Technical Knowledge.

  • Knowledgeable with robotic applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the project.
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing process.
  • PLC Programming.
  • HMI Programming.
  • VFD and Servo Experience.
  • AutoCAD.
  • AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ability to collaborate on the design of control systems for industrial machines (this includes schematics, programming, startup, troubleshooting, and documentation).

Nice To Haves

  • Fanuc experience a plus.
  • Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 (preferred).
  • Robotic and PLC Programming/integration Experience, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Programming of industrial robotics in varying manufacturing environments.
  • Use of robot simulation software to design and test concepts and programs.
  • Assist with the design of the end of arm tooling (EOAT) to perform desired tasks.
  • Use RIA standards for safety when developing robot code.
  • Collaborate with the PLC Engineer to define communication and operational requirements.
  • Develop robot code to perform required project tasks.
  • Energize electrical systems and set up hardware according to application specifications.
  • Assist with on-site installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers to assist in preparing quotes as needed.
  • Create user manuals to clearly explain how programs developed by the company function.
  • Assesses control systems, products, components, and applications by developing schematics, selecting appropriate components, and applying expertise in electricity and materials to industrial control systems.
  • Verify systems and component capabilities by testing and troubleshooting.
  • Develops automation design by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials related to electrical design.
  • Contributes to the team to meet the project objectives and costs.
  • Utilizes knowledge to overcome design setbacks, offering solutions to ensure on-time completion of projects.
  • Works directly with the entire team and project engineers.
  • Interface with customers, sales, and project manager.
  • Participate in field installation and service at the customer site as well as commission drive control systems.
  • Participate in manufacturing checkout and customer shop tests as required.
  • Manage smooth commissioning of the project by coordinating between the project team and Site personnel.
  • Establish and approve commissioning plans in accordance with project guidelines.
  • Review designs and supervises onsite commissioning activities.
  • Completes commissioning by training and guiding users through on-site training and SOP'S.
  • Maintains overall system integrity and complies with federal and state regulations.
