About The Position

We’re hiring an Industrial Pump Mechanic to join our Macon, GA service center. This role focuses on the tear-down, inspection, machining, rebuild, and testing of industrial pumps and rotating equipment within an OEM-authorized repair environment. This position is primarily shop-based and ideal for a mechanic who is comfortable both rebuilding pumps and operating manual machine tools to tight tolerances. Our service offerings include system analysis and design, applications engineering, custom fabrication of equipment packages, automation and controls, equipment repair, and thermal hard coatings. tencarva.com The Role This is a hands-on rebuild and machining role - not a production maintenance position. You will disassemble, inspect, machine components as needed, rebuild, and test a variety of industrial pumps and rotating equipment. Equipment Includes: Centrifugal pumps (ANSI/API) Vertical turbine pumps Multistage and split-case pumps Positive displacement pumps Air-operated diaphragm pumps Gearboxes, blowers, valves, and other rotating equipment

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience repairing/rebuilding industrial pumps or rotating equipment
  • Manual machining experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to independently set up and operate manual lathe and mill
  • Experience working with a 4-jaw chuck preferred
  • Experience holding tight tolerances
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and precision measuring tools
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with gearboxes, blowers, valves, or related rotating equipment is a plus
  • Candidates with 5+ years of manual machining experience, including VTL (vertical turret lathe), are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and inspect customer equipment
  • Diagnose root cause of failure
  • Prepare repair scopes and parts requirements
  • Rebuild pumps and rotating equipment to OEM standards
  • Perform laser alignment and assist with field installations when needed
  • Machine replacement components and repair shafts, sleeves, and fits as required
  • Sketch parts to be fabricated from general descriptions or worn components
  • Set up and operate manual metalworking machines including lathe, mill (Bridgeport), boring mill, VTL, and balancing equipment
  • Measure, mark, and verify tolerances using micrometers, dial indicators, and precision measuring tools
  • Perform manual milling, drilling, slotting, and boring to bearing fits of +/- .002”
  • Perform turning operations including boring, grooving, and threading to tolerances of +/- .0005”
  • Perform surface grinding operations to tolerances of +/- .0002”
  • Install machined components and test rebuilt equipment for performance and reliability
  • Maintain a safe and organized shop environment
