About The Position

An Industrial Pipe Fitter assembles, lays out, installs, and maintains pipe systems for steam, fluid, or gas. These systems may include pipe, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangers, and angles. Work may take place throughout a construction or maintenance site, including inside buildings and structures such as tanks or boilers, outdoors, in underground excavations, and at heights of up to 300 feet.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper.
• Demonstrated industrial construction or maintenance history.
• Ability to read prints and construction drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturers' manuals and instructions.
• Knowledge of pipe-fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components for a combined-cycle power plant.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Good aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Good reading comprehension.
• Ability to work with others as a team player and independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.
• Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Experience on an industrial construction project.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations and quantities and sizes of required materials.
• Identify the tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
• Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
• Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges within piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications.
• Perform tests to ensure the quality of pipe and piping systems.
• Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
• Work closely with and occasionally oversee helper and labor positions.
