About The Position

In the Painter position, you are responsible for the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient daily operation of your duties and responsibilities. Under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Painter will perform industrial painting and plant preservation activities, including washing, paint prepping, painting, sandblasting, and general maintenance, on parts, steel, aluminum, and equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience as an industrial painter, experience with erecting scaffolding and ladders.
Fully trained to use spray rig/gun system, sandblasting equipment, chipping hammer, grinder, and forklift.
Thorough knowledge of surface preparation to ensure proper coating adhesion and a basic understanding of paint equipment and paint-booth operation.
Ability to utilize a variety of techniques and tools in painting surfaces and make an accurate selection from tools like spray equipment, airbrushes, stencils, rollers, and brushes.
Responsible for prepping the substrate for paint.

Responsibilities

Perform “Power-Wash” and other pre-painting activities on parts in preparation for painting/fabrication.
Apply a variety of industrial coatings to fabricated metal products.
Utilize instrumentation to measure painting parameters to ensure compliance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
Responsible for the application of industrial coatings in confined spaces.
Assist to appropriately rig large objects for the purpose of moving them in the process of applying the industrial coatings.
Adhere to all OSHA and hazardous materials procedures with respect to the storage and handling of materials in the area.
Requisition material and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommend purchases and suppliers.
Work in a self-guided manner in the absence of supervision and demonstrate creativity, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative.
Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas.
Assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment and guarantee and observe good safety habits.
Performs additional tasks as directed by the Shift Supervisor, or his or her designee.
