About The Position

Tayco is seeking two (2) motivated and enthusiastic Production Specialist 1 - Industrial Painters to join our dynamic team. The Industrial Painter is responsible for applying powder coatings to finished products and components using manual and automated painting systems. This role ensures that proper painting techniques are followed, quality standards are maintained in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and production and quality targets are achieved. The Industrial Painter is also expected to consistently adhere to Health & Safety requirements and comply with all Tayco policies. This position will primarily function as an Industrial Painter; however, based on operational requirements, the successful candidate may be assigned to other areas within Production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Previous work experience as a painter in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Understands proper technique, and how to set spray guns for proper coverage.
  • Is able to understand, speak, read and write English. Must be able to understand verbal and written work instructions in English as accuracy and attention to detail is necessary for the performance of this position. In addition, must be able to speak, read and understand health and safety procedures, document work, orient others, problem solve, learn new work processes and participate in continuous learning and weekly team meetings.
  • Is able to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Is able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and to carry, move, manipulate and/or position them and to move, bend, twist or maintaining awkward body positions while performing work.
  • Has good hand and eye co-ordination and muscular control sufficient to operate tools or equipment and to see closely and/or listen intently in order to achieve very detailed results and/or detect flaws or errors.
  • Is able to understand and follow established personal safety, security, and environmental practices. Is knowledgeable of, and compliant with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • This position requires the use of a respirator and personal protective equipment (PPE), including a protective suit, safety glasses, and CSA-approved safety footwear, while working in the paint booth. Candidates must be able to wear the required PPE in accordance with applicable health and safety regulations and Tayco policies.

Responsibilities

  • Using manual or automated powder coating systems, paint components in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Adjusts nozzles on spray guns to obtain the proper dispersion of the spray and monitors the flow and viscosity of the paint for solution.
  • Evaluates product for flaws, bubbles, or imperfections in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensures proper use of mill gauge and monitors pressure amount.
  • Cleans paint lines/stain booth, paint guns and performs other cleaning preventative maintenance to ensure that painting apparatus remains in working order.
  • Complies with all company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Without limitation, wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times in accordance with Tayco's policies.
  • Maintains a clean and well-organized work area; works in conjunction with afternoon shift employees to do so, as needed.
  • Provides SOP process familiarization and orientation.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned from time to time at the discretion of management.
