Industrial Network Engineer

ChevronHouston, LA

About The Position

The Senior Industrial Network Engineer provides senior-level engineering leadership for industrial network environments by designing, implementing, and supporting reliable, secure, and resilient network solutions across routing, switching, security, and RF technologies. This role ensures industrial networks meet operational, safety, and cybersecurity requirements while supporting business and site operations through expert technical execution and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting industrial or OT network environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial routing, switching, firewall technologies, and network segmentation.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in operationally sensitive environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, CWNP, or relevant industrial networking or cybersecurity certifications.
  • Experience supporting RF and wireless solutions in industrial environments, including RF surveys and performance optimization.
  • Experience working within regulated, safety-critical, or large-scale industrial operations.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to network standards and design guides.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and deploy industrial network solutions supporting routing, switching, security, and RF technologies across brownfield and greenfield environments.
  • Develop detailed network designs that meet site-specific operational, safety, resiliency, and performance requirements; validate solutions through testing prior to production deployment.
  • Engineer and support industrial and OT IP routing and switching infrastructures, including troubleshooting complex Layer 2–4 issues and supporting lifecycle upgrades.
  • Implement industrial network security controls, including firewalls, segmentation, zone design, and secure remote access, in alignment with approved cybersecurity architectures.
  • Design, deploy, and support RF and wireless solutions (e.g., Wi‑Fi and industrial radio), including RF site surveys, coverage planning, and performance validation.
  • Provide advanced operational support for incidents and complex network issues while minimizing operational impact to sites.
  • Collaborate with architects, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and site stakeholders; contribute to standards, build guides, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share lessons learned to improve overall industrial network capability.
