About The Position

C&W Services is hiring an Industrial Mechanical Technician for its Cedar Rapids, Iowa location. The role performs repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, conveying systems, piping, heat exchangers, power transmissions, and other power-driven rotating equipment in accordance with established standards. Work may be performed with direct supervision or independently depending on the task and employee development; the position also requires the ability to work without supervision. The technician helps develop preventive maintenance standards and procedures, reports discrepancies through work orders, completes administrative tasks such as time accounting and work-order documentation, and maintains positive customer and employee relations. The role requires working safely in a team-oriented industrial environment and complying with company and customer requirements. The scheduled hours are Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The posting also requires flexibility to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. The stated hourly pay is $30.60–$36.00; the job details also list $34–$36 per hour depending on experience. A $3,000 retention bonus is offered.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance and/or 4 or more years of education in industrial maintenance technologies or engineering; preferred qualification as stated in the posting.
Working knowledge of hand and power tools, precision alignment, rigging, pipefitting, welding, blueprint reading, mathematics, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
Ability to work without supervision and in a team-oriented, safety-conscious environment.
Ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
Ability to use applicable hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and industrial vehicles safely.
Ability to wear a respirator while performing job duties.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds and moving for extended or continuous periods.
Ability to observe details at close range, manipulate and assemble objects, and adjust machine or vehicle controls precisely.
Ability to communicate information clearly and arrange information or actions according to specified rules.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, conveying systems, piping, heat exchangers, power transmissions, and other power-driven rotating equipment.
Assist in formulating preventive maintenance standards and work procedures, and provide work-order feedback on service discrepancies.
Use hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment; perform welding and use a cutting torch as required.
Operate industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, basket trucks, and skid loaders.
Work at elevated locations using fall-protection equipment as needed.
Follow company and customer regulations, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including PJHA and observation processes.
Complete assigned tasks safely, effectively, and efficiently, including accurate and timely time accounting and work-order completion.
Maintain required personal tools and an up-to-date documented tool list.
Communicate with team members to support short- and long-range planning and company objectives.
Meet performance expectations, participate in employee development planning, and maintain positive customer and employee relations.
Perform other duties assigned by the responsible supervisor.
