About The Position

Join our growing team responsible for maintaining and improving heavy steel processing equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and improving mechanical systems that support critical production operations. The successful candidate is a self-driven industrial maintenance mechanic who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, minimizing downtime, working alongside electrical technicians and operators, and improving equipment reliability. What We're Looking For A technician who takes ownership of equipment reliability, works safely, collaborates across departments, and is motivated to continuously improve aging production equipment rather than simply repairing failures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in steel processing, stamping, or heavy manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability with rotating equipment and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, and power transmission equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Mechanical apprenticeship, trade school, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and job-related internet research.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, chains, sprockets, couplings, and power transmission equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems including cylinders, valves, pumps, filters, hoses, regulators, and actuators.
  • Perform precision alignment of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
  • Replace bearings, seals, shafts, rollers, wear components, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor machining as required.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, pneumatic diagrams, OEM manuals, and assembly drawings.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Work closely with electrical technicians during major repairs, installations, and equipment upgrades.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Participate in equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and communicate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to use a computer to write daily reports, respond to emails, and search for replacement parts.
  • Responsible for proper care and cleanliness of tools, equipment, materials, and work area.
  • Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.
