About The Position

This position is responsible for performing major and minor maintenance and repairs throughout the facility including fabrication of minor parts. The role ensures the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on various machines, following diagrams, machine manuals, and manufacturer's instructions. This includes preventive maintenance on forklifts, batteries, loading docks, and doors. The mechanic will adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, troubleshoot malfunctions, and perform repairs while learning diagnostics. Responsibilities include generating paperwork for parts and work orders, tracking forklifts, and assisting with electrical component replacements. The role also involves plumbing, welding, part fabrication, monitoring basic refrigeration, and reporting potential hazards. Adherence to OSHA standards and staying updated on new technology are crucial. The mechanic will install power supply wiring, perform safety control testing, attend company meetings, and address mechanical issues during their shift.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of related experience as an electronics mechanic.
  • 2-years of technical or trade school in mechanical/electrical technology or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Industrial controls.
  • Basic understanding of refrigeration.
  • Knowledge of electrical tools and machines used in setting.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, welding, machinist, boiling (understanding of high pressure).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Performing major and minor maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
  • Fabricating minor parts.
  • Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on forklifts, batteries, loading docks, and doors.
  • Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions by locating sources of problems and planning repairs.
  • Performing minor and major repairs while learning diagnostics.
  • Generating paperwork for parts and work orders for service.
  • Tracking forklifts.
  • Assisting with replacing electrical components such as 3 phase motors, VFD's, sensors, motor starters, power supplies and positions sensing devices.
  • Removing defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, hand and power tools, and examining devices for repair and/or replacement.
  • Completing scheduled and emergency Work Orders through CMMS to maintain optimum manufacturing line efficiencies.
  • Recording data into MP2 as required.
  • Performing plumbing and welding as needed.
  • Performing part fabrication.
  • Basic understanding and monitoring of basic refrigeration work.
  • Informing supervisors and others in the management team regarding potential hazards and recommending corrective solutions.
  • Performing all work in accordance with OHSA standards for general industry.
  • Keeping abreast of new technology, devices and manufacturing processes.
  • Following blue prints, installing power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment or conveyors.
  • Troubleshooting and performing safety control testing.
  • Attending company scheduled meetings as required (e.g., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings).
  • Addressing all mechanical issues during shift.
  • Timely informing supervision of any problems or complications that may arise.
  • Participating in special projects and performing other duties as required.
