About The Position

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Job Overview Seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Mechanic with 3 to 5 years of experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy industrial equipment including motors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic presses, conveyors, piping, and valves to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, safety-focused, and experienced in troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of industrial maintenance or heavy mechanical repair experience
  • Strong experience with motors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, presses, piping, valves, and conveyors
  • Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hazardous material handling, and OSHA safety standards
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment with heat, noise, dust, and chemical exposure
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights or in confined spaces, and lift 50+ pounds
  • Must be able to wear required PPE for extended periods including respirators, hard hats, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
  • May work 12-hour shifts or rotating schedules
  • Must maintain constant safety awareness and follow all plant safety and environmental procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training, trade school, welding, machining, or OSHA certifications are a plus
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain rotating equipment and heavy industrial machinery including pumps, motors, presses, conveyors, piping, and valves
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
  • Identify wear, leaks, and potential failure points before they become production issues
  • Follow and enforce all safety procedures, OSHA standards, lockout/tagout protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations
  • Safely work around materials containing lead and other toxic chemicals while strictly following all safety procedures
  • Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activity in the maintenance management system
  • Analyze equipment failures and recommend process improvements to increase reliability, efficiency, and safety
  • Support major repairs, equipment overhauls, shutdowns, and special projects
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize production impact and maintain plant performance
