About The Position

An industrial mechanic installs, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs factory machinery and automated equipment to minimize downtime. They perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, use precision tools for repairs, and ensure compliance with safety standards in manufacturing, energy, and production environments.

Requirements

  • Able to safely and expertly use hand and power tools.
  • Be able to safely operate shop-powered equipment.
  • Experienced with properly using an electrical multimeter.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems/schematics.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams.
  • Experienced working with relevant large machinery.
  • Ability and aptitude to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric in nature.
  • Self-starter who can work in a fast-paced/ever-changing environment both individually and alongside a team.
  • Have electrical knowledge to be able to trace circuits, voltage test, or, if a fuse is bad, how to wire motors of different voltages correctly, locate motor controls, power sources, transformers, and bus bars in a panel, and determine if a breaker or overload is tripped, and other issues.
  • Possess advanced fabrication skills to be able to drill and tap, measure and cut various materials, join them together, and make parts such as a bracket or a guard rail for a conveyor.
  • Able to weld with both stick and MIG as circumstances demand.
  • Familiar and experienced with proper rigging and lifting practices and equipment for moving large pieces of equipment.
  • Able to slit, lace, and mount large conveyor belts.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting VFDs and PLCs and their functions.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and a trade school diploma/certificate or an associate degree in a related field are required.
  • Seven or more years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of experience.
  • Ability to read machine prints/schematics, both mechanical and electrical, as well as technical and machine manuals
  • Must have manual dexterity to use hand and power tools correctly and safely.
  • Ability to work an 8-12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekend work.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the preventative maintenance program for the mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
  • Install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, and maintain the mechanical equipment throughout the facility safely and professionally.
  • Initiate and complete work orders.
  • Documents all critical information on a routine basis.
  • Respond and report to work during off-hours when emergency repairs are required.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and perform repairs.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as inspecting and lubricating equipment, identifying and replacing worn parts, tracking conveyor belts, and replacing motors, bearings, and chains.
  • Operate other equipment such as industrial forklifts, man lifts, skid steer-type loaders, and other mobile equipment.
  • Work with team members to learn the equipment operation, assist with making repairs, and build troubleshooting skills.
  • Follow OSHA and other regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
