About The Position

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Maintenance Technician position in the Global Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assist in the daily functions of the Maintenance Department. We offer competitive wages, benefits and Attendance Bonus. Additionally, you will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as hoist motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, conveyors, etc. You will examine mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble, and disassemble machines and repair and replace broken parts. You will use all types of power tools and hand tools, and make adjustments to functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary. You will keep your work area clean and observe all safety procedures. You will interpret blueprints, and work from sketches or verbal instructions. You will maintain all types of forklifts and keep them in operating condition. You will contribute to the design and fabrication of production fixtures and racks. You will carry out a preventative maintenance program for all production equipment, mechanical devices, building and land, including maintaining maintenance records and preventive maintenance checklists. A basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in general maintenance
  • Significant electrical work to repair or maintain company equipment.
  • A working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • The ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, welding layouts, schematics, and complex electro mechanical assembly and/or erection directions.
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Perform and/or assist with maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.
  • Support manufacturing demands including working during non-peak hours (e.g. off shifts, holidays, weekends, etc. as required/assigned.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors.
  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Five years of previous experience with overhead crane operations
  • Five years of previous experience operating a forklift
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to recognize hazardous substances and to know basic employee responsibilities for chemical safety
