About The Position

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Maintenance Technician position in the Global Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assist in the daily functions of the Maintenance Department. We offer competitive wages, benefits and Attendance Bonus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in general maintenance
  • Significant electrical work to repair or maintain company equipment.
  • A working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • The ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, welding layouts, schematics, and complex electro mechanical assembly and/or erection directions.
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors.
  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Five years of previous experience with overhead crane operations
  • Five years of previous experience operating a forklift
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to recognize hazardous substances and to know basic employee responsibilities for chemical safety

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as hoist motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, conveyors, etc.
  • Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
  • Disassembles machines and repairs and replaces broken parts.
  • Uses all types of power tools and hand tools
  • Adjustment of functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary
  • Keeps work area clean; observes all safety procedures
  • Interprets blueprints, works from sketches or verbal instructions
  • Maintains all types of forklifts and keeps in operating condition
  • Contributes to the design and fabrication of production fixtures and racks
  • Carries out preventative maintenance program for all production equipment, mechanical devices, building and land, including maintaining maintenance records and preventive maintenance checklists.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Perform and/or assist with maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.
  • Support manufacturing demands including working during non-peak hours (e.g. off shifts, holidays, weekends, etc. as required/assigned.
