About The Position

Quality Packaging (Qual Pac) is seeking Entry Level Maintenance Technicians for the 2nd shift at their dedicated facility for Frito-Lay in Grand Prairie, TX. The company has been in business for over 50 years and values employees, integrity, and customer needs. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for working on and maintaining horizontal form fill and seal equipment, shrink wrap tunnels, forklift minor repairs, stretch wrappers, print registered bundle wrappers, heavy electrical work in the warehouse, and general building maintenance. Strong communication skills via phone, email, and in-person are essential.

Requirements

Electrical troubleshooting skills
Mechanical aptitude
Understanding of high-voltage wiring (480V 3-phase motors)
Multi-craft maintenance and repair (e.g., performing interrelated repairs on electrical systems and mechanical systems)
Willingness to work under pressure to fix equipment
Work urgently to get the equipment back up and running
Troubleshooting issues on a wide variety of equipment
Will conduct repair failures of production and facilities equipment
Ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability
Responding to maintenance calls is part of your job, and this can sometimes mean helping complete a repair that has already been started
Inspect machines, develop repair lists, and identify short-term and long-term repairs so that machines run correctly
Customer Service: interact with all levels of team members on the floor.
Flexibility: switching gears, shifting priorities, and balancing task lists with calls for maintenance repairs.
Self-Starter: taking ownership of your quality and speed of work is essential when conducting preventative maintenance or addressing equipment failure.
Safety Focused: attention to company policies and procedures regarding safety will minimize risks to yourself, your team, and the quality of our products.
Minimum of a High School Diploma.
Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office.
Experience with C.M.M.S. software (Preventive Maintenance/Work Order distribution systems).
Understanding encoders and equipment timing.
Knowledge of Servo drives and motors.
Variable Frequency drive operation and configuration.
Basic knowledge of logic software.
Strong knowledge of how components interact with PLC’s (photo eyes, proximity sensors, etc.).

Nice To Haves

Some college is desirable
Fluent in Spanish, both written and verbal, is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventative maintenance on mechanical handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, sweepers, etc.)
Document records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Select repair parts and update parts records.
Repair mechanical damage and replace defective parts, which may include welding, brazing, and soldering. Repairs are made to mechanical handling equipment, racking, floors, plumbing, piping, and other warehouse structural components.
Maintenance and repair of batteries and chargers.
Applies mechanical skills and knowledge to troubleshooting and repair of electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, fabrication, building construction, and other warehouse maintenance/repair situations.
Reads and interprets schematics, drawings, and other diagnostic aids in the scope of troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication work.
Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Comply with OSHA Safety and Health regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
