About The Position

WM is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair equipment at a material recycling facility. The role supports safe, efficient plant operations by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing equipment failures, and repairing or rebuilding machinery and components. The mechanic reports to the Plant Maintenance Manager and works with limited supervision while maintaining high performance and safety standards. Starting pay is $25 to $37 per hour, based on experience. The schedule is generally Monday through Friday, though operational needs may require flexibility to work nights and weekends. Uniforms, personal protective equipment, and extensive paid training are provided.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Must be over 18 years of age.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment and components.
Maintain the Daily Equipment Inspections backlog.
Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and inform the Sr. Plant Maintenance Manager when additional work is needed or cannot be completed within Standard Repair Times.
Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds.
Recommend improvements to production, equipment performance, and product quality.
Manage multiple priorities and respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
Perform work with limited supervision while maintaining high performance standards.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and complete work according to safety procedures.
Perform repairs in accordance with Waste Management Safety, Life Critical Rules, and OSHA requirements.
