About The Position

Caterpillar Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic at its East Peoria, IL (Undercarriage Building BB) facility. This full-time position offers competitive starting wages, scheduled wage increases, and a $5,000 retention bonus. The role involves performing various maintenance trade functions on plant facilities and equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and planning corrective procedures. The selected candidate will work on a 3rd shift schedule from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, Sunday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • Able to conduct daily maintenance and keep track of safety logs on equipment
  • Able to diagnose problems and malfunctions on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment
  • Research process and product blueprints/electrical prints for own area
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Ramsay testing is required for this role

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of maintenance trade functions on plant facilities and equipment.
  • Properly diagnose malfunctions and plan corrective procedures.
  • Test and repair valves, regulators, and gas units.
  • Repair conveyors, dynamometers, fans, and cranes.
  • Make on-site repairs to hydraulic systems, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Install rigging to hoist units into position.
  • Use machine tools and equipment applicable to the operation.
  • Use common and precision checking equipment, laser equipment, and portable power tools.
  • Conduct daily maintenance and keep track of safety logs on equipment.
  • Diagnose problems and malfunctions on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment.
  • Research process and product blueprints/electrical prints for own area.
  • Apply knowledge of operation of electronic circuits to locate defects using instruments.
  • Test faulty equipment, calibrate and service electronic testing instruments.
  • Apply knowledge of operation of electronic units and systems to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Install electrical wiring and related equipment for all building and plant equipment per local and National Electric codes.
  • Perform electrical repairs and PM on building electrical equipment, production machines, and HVAC Systems.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work to meet customer needs.
  • Read blueprints/schematics.
  • Provide estimates for material and parts for jobs.
  • Put safety first with a goal to prevent all injuries, occupational illnesses, and safety incidents.
