About The Position

Carpenter Co. has an opening for a Maintenance Mechanic at the Richmond Plant, located at 2400 Richmond Highway. This position works Monday through Friday, 12:00pm to 8:30pm, with flexibility to work earlier and overtime. Our industrial maintenance mechanics work in a manufacturing setting and are responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining factory equipment and industrial machinery. The Maintenance Department is responsible for the repair of mechanic components, industrial automation, electrical parts, hydraulic, pneumatic and other general repairs. Their primary goal is to prevent production downtime by ensuring mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems operate safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge and technical skills of mechanical systems
  • High mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting, and strict adherence to safety
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and parts; comfortable working in confined spaces or at heights; ability to stand, bend, and move for long periods
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Safety and Security

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance or related field, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery (gear, shafts, bearings, chains, belts, sensors, etc.)
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on production equipment
  • Replace or repair defective parts such as motors, belts, bearings, valves, and pumps
  • Ensure machines operate efficiently and safely
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime; conduct regular inspections to identify wear, damage or potential failures.
  • Use diagnostic tools to detect issues early
  • Install new machines and mechanical systems; assemble equipment according to specifications; calibrate machinery for proper operation.
  • Perform fabrication and modification
  • Maintain maintenance logs and repair records; document inspections, repairs, and replaced parts
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace
