The Dairy Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical, air, electrical, and hydraulic components of various equipment, including processing, blow molding, filling, and material handling equipment. This involves working from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications, using a variety of tools. The role requires visually inspecting and listening to machines to diagnose malfunctions, dismantling equipment, inspecting parts for wear or misalignment, and replacing worn or defective components. The mechanic will also re-align and adjust components, repair pipes, and test equipment after repairs. This position may involve modifying computer-controlled functions on equipment. The role requires working in extreme temperatures (over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and below 20 degrees Fahrenheit), in wet and humid environments for extended periods, and performing physical tasks such as bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, and working overhead or at ground level. Maintaining a safe and clean work area is essential. The mechanic will work with and understand boilers, refrigeration, hydraulic, air, electrical, and other plant systems, and must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, blueprints, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and complete written reports.
