About The Position

West Liberty Foods is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to support production by maintaining the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical systems, with experience on automated equipment being a key aspect. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with their hands and diagnosing machine issues.

Requirements

  • Work 12-hour shifts, 7 of 14 days each two-week pay period (specific schedule provided).
  • May be asked to work additional shifts as needed.
  • Ability to read prints/schematics/drawings.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mechanical field in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Must have computer skills to communicate and process data.
  • Must be able to read and write English with the ability to comprehend basic maintenance manuals.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, troubleshooting including mechanical and electrical/electronic, PLCs, welding/fabrication, AC/DC controls, motor controls, 3-phase wiring, plumbing, conveyors, pneumatic systems.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships are available.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including above the head and below the waist.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and do work on aerial work platforms as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands.
  • Must practice good personal hygiene.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug test, background screen, physical and E-Verify.

Nice To Haves

  • Working on automated (PLC’s, Vision Systems) equipment, Textor/Weber/Multivac equipment, 480V, pneumatics is preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or processing is a plus.
  • Preferred experience with CMMS, L2L, Google Suite.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily preventative maintenance and daily tasks.
  • Read and understand mechanical and electrical diagrams and technical repair manuals.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot automated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Install pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, etc.
  • Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controls.
  • Work order completion.
  • Apply knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance work.
  • Operate lifts and material handling tools as needed.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
