About The Position

Gensco, a regional leader in sheet metal manufacturing, is looking for a self-motivated, trainable up and coming Industrial Equipment Maintenance Mechanic to join their Swing Shift Team in Tacoma, WA. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment and systems, including electrical, mechanical drive, and hydraulic systems. Responsibilities also include conducting machine setup, preventative maintenance, routine repairs on plant facilities, and operating equipment for testing and diagnosis. The position requires adjustment and calibration of machinery, reading technical drawings, and performing basic fabrication and carpentry, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, air conditioning, and plumbing repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years of mechanical experience
  • 1-2 years of related experience required to include working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Some experience and ability in mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting and maintenance techniques
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate working knowledge of mechanical/electrical principles and concepts
  • Be able to work with each department to provide support to ensure day-to-day maintenance issues are resolved with a reliability mindset
  • Regularly and repetitively lift 50 pounds and frequently lift 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques
  • Able to work at heights up to 30 feet
  • Able to move freely about the facility, climb stairs, stoop, bend, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods of time up to and over 8 hours a day
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • Electrical experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial manufacturing equipment and systems including: Electrical Systems: basic understanding of high/low voltage distribution, control circuits and data/signal
  • Mechanical Drive Systems: gearboxes, belts, pulleys, shafts, bearings, and conveyors
  • Hydraulic Systems: pumps, hoses, cylinders, valves, and fittings
  • Conduct machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance service
  • Maintain equipment by completion of preventative maintenance and repair/replace defective parts when needed
  • Perform routine repairs and maintenance on plant facilities and industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Operation of machine/equipment for testing, diagnosis, and preventive maintenance
  • Adjustment and calibration of machine/equipment
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Use hand and power tools to perform basic fabrication and carpentry, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, air conditioning, and plumbing repairs on production equipment, machinery, and facility
