About The Position

Smithers-Oasis, located in Kent, Ohio, is a global leader in the manufacturing and marketing of floral, grower, postharvest and specialty foam products. We have operations in over 20 countries. Established in 1954, Smithers-Oasis' brands include OASIS® Floral Products, OASIS® Grower Solutions, FLORALIFE® Postharvest Products and ENGINEERED PRODUCTS. We are hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at one of our Kent, OH locations. This is a full-time position which will have a two-week rotating schedule of Monday through Friday from 4:30am to 2:30pm and 6:00am to 4:00pm. Please note that schedules may change based on business needs which may require availability to work a 2nd shift schedule. Please note that call backs during off shifts may be required. Overtime hours may be required based on business needs, which would include Fridays and possibly Saturdays. Starting pay is $31.00 per hour. Higher pay depends on experience.

Requirements

Skilled Maintenance Mechanic with some electrical experience.
Ability to troubleshoot, perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance, repair, and install equipment.
Good communicator, trustworthy and reliable.
High school diploma with an electrical certification from a trade school, college or formal technical education.
3 - 5 years of industrial electrical experience.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and CAD equipment drawings.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform basic math calculations.
Self-starter and can work under little direction.
Ability to communicate well with a variety of internal teams and external vendors.
Ability to lift, carry and handle objects weighing 50-to-100 pounds.
Comfortable climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
Ability to operate aerial platform equipment, working at a high height.
Must pass a drug screening.

Nice To Haves

TIG, MIG, or stick welding skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair and maintain manufacturing and facility equipment.
Perform electrical troubleshooting which includes variable frequency drives and basic troubleshooting of PLC and CNC controlled equipment.
Responsible for the electrical installation of new, used, and relocated equipment per applicable electrical and building codes.
Responsible for planning, generating bills of material, and purchasing materials for electrical projects.
Perform basic machining tasks using a vertical mill, metal lathe, and surface grinder.
Perform basic fabrication tasks.
Perform facility upgrades or repairs which could involve carpentry, plumbing, roof repair, and painting.
Perform duties as specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or charts.
Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
Perform all work with adherence to safety procedures and applicable codes.
Maintain daily log of activities performed.
Participate and support PSM-PM and PM programs.
Assist in snow removal of designated areas.
Assist as required, in maintaining plant safety and security.
Attend appropriate/required educational training programs.
Lead, participate in and support Smithers-Oasis continuous improvement activities.
Perform other duties as required.
