About The Position

Keep Fort Wayne's water and wastewater facilities running at peak performance! Join the City of Fort Wayne as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic I. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of systems and facilities related to water and wastewater treatment. You will perform preventive and predictive maintenance, utilize CMMS for work orders and data entry, and apply principles of 6S and TPM.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) plus 6 months hands-on mechanical knowledge
  • Obtain Indiana CDL within 18 months of hire or 18 months after turning 21 whichever comes first
  • Confined Space Entry Certification
  • CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification
  • Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, repairs and maintains a wide variety of Filtration Plant, Water Pollution Control Plant and related systems and supporting facilities
  • Performs preventive / predictive maintenance tasks as required
  • Performs various maintenance work including carpentry, painting, glazing and masonry
  • Assists in plant de-sludging, Filter rebuilding, aeration tank cleaning, etc.
  • Utilizes CMMS to perform scheduled PMs and maintenance work, to record associated labor time and materials and to enter all necessary and applicable data
  • Utilize 6S and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
