About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a proactive Experienced Industrial Hygienist to join their Engineering Test & Technology Environmental Health Science (EHS) Team in Seattle, WA. This role involves acting as an embedded safety partner for Boeing’s Research & Development (R&D) laboratories, focusing on anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards in areas such as chemical synthesis, composite testing, and laser technologies. The ideal candidate will excel at communicating complex scientific risks and regulations to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a safety related field (Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Toxicology, Bio-Engineering, Public Health, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience performing Occupational Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene duties in an industrial environment
  • 3+ years of experience performing health and safety risk assessments, developing and managing safety programs, and performing audits
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation or actively working toward it
  • Experience managing nanomaterials, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), or exotic aerospace chemical alloys
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations, ACGIH TLVs, and modern occupational health standards

Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene surveys to evaluate unique and evolving occupational exposures to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
  • Provide strategic and technical oversight for complex chemical safety programs, ensuring safe storage, handling, and ventilation of novel research materials.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering, manufacturing, research, and design teams to integrate engineering controls into newly developed lab processes.
  • Lead and audit foundational health programs tailored to a lab environment, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, and Laser/Radiation safety.
  • Oversee exposure monitoring equipment, interpret complex analytical lab results, and draft impactful technical summaries detailing risk and mitigation plans.
