About The Position

Consolidated Safety Services, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Hygienist I to conduct occupational safety and health assessments at our client site, the National Institutes of Health. The role involves evaluating and controlling exposures to biological, physical, and chemical agents in various workplace settings, including laboratories and general industrial areas. The Industrial Hygienist will identify and evaluate hazards, assess existing controls, and recommend additional measures to mitigate risks. A key focus will be supporting the Respiratory Protection, Ergonomics, and Laser Safety Programs, and communicating findings and recommendations through detailed reports. The position also requires documenting activities using commercial software programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in the job offered or in an Industrial Hygienist-related occupation.
  • Experience conducting industrial hygiene assessments, including qualitative exposure assessments, and assessments using exposure monitoring equipment.
  • Experience surveying biomedical research areas, industrial and medical lasers and laser systems.
  • Experience conducting ergonomic assessments of office workstations, laboratory workstations, and industrial activities.
  • Experience supporting the respiratory protection program, to include assisting with program updates, respirator selection, training, and fit testing.
  • Experience in databases and software, including MS Office, MS PowerBi, MS Bookings, Cority (commercial EHS software), TSI, Inc. equipment software.

  • Identify and evaluate hazards in laboratories, laboratory support areas, and general industrial areas.
  • Assess existing controls and recommend additional controls to reduce risk.
  • Support the Respiratory Protection, Ergonomics, and Laser Safety Programs.
  • Issue reports to clearly communicate recommendations.
  • Document findings and activity using commercial software programs.
