About The Position

Catawba Rubber, a Singer Industrial Company, is seeking an experienced Industrial Hose & Rubber Outside Sales / Account Manager for the Charlotte, NC market. This is not a general sales position. Candidates must have relevant experience selling, specifying, fabricating, or supporting industrial hose, rubber products, fluid-conveyance components, power-transmission products, or closely related industrial equipment. Our markets include manufacturing, chemical processing, construction, aggregate, food and beverage, OEM equipment, MRO, power generation, rental supply, petrochemical, oil and gas, marine, and mining. Our product offering includes industrial and hydraulic hose, fittings, industrial rubber products, belting, gaskets, seals, fluid-power components, pneumatics, automation products, and related services. The Outside Sales / Account Manager is responsible for developing new business, growing existing accounts, and helping customers solve industrial application, maintenance, production, and supply-chain challenges. The successful candidate will understand how industrial hose and related products are selected and used in the field. This includes evaluating application requirements such as the material being conveyed, chemical compatibility, pressure, temperature, abrasion, movement, connection type, and operating environment. This individual will work closely with inside sales, operations, fabrication, and management to recommend appropriate solutions, prepare accurate quotes, and ensure orders are fulfilled successfully. The position requires someone who can earn credibility with maintenance personnel, plant managers, engineers, purchasing teams, contractors, equipment operators, and other industrial customers.

Requirements

Professional experience in at least one of the following areas: Industrial hose, hydraulic hose, fittings, couplings, or hose assemblies; Industrial rubber products, including sheet rubber, belting, gaskets, seals, or fabricated rubber components; Fluid conveyance, fluid power, pneumatics, or power-transmission products; Industrial distribution involving closely related mechanical or MRO products; A customer-facing technical role supporting industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, chemical operations, construction or aggregate operations, OEMs, or similar environments; Hands-on hose fabrication, industrial maintenance, field service, or application support combined with the ability and desire to develop customer accounts.
Experience must include enough product or application knowledge to discuss customer requirements credibly and identify when additional technical support is needed.
Demonstrated experience selling or supporting industrial hose, rubber, fluid-conveyance, fluid-power, power-transmission, or closely related industrial products
Strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of industrial equipment and operating environments
Working knowledge of hose selection factors, including chemical compatibility, pressure, temperature, abrasion, and connection requirements
Ability to evaluate customer applications and translate operating requirements into appropriate product recommendations
Established experience working with industrial customers such as manufacturers, chemical processors, contractors, aggregate operations, OEMs, maintenance departments, or similar organizations
Proven ability to develop new accounts and expand existing customer relationships
Strong prospecting, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills
Ability to manage a sales territory independently and prioritize multiple opportunities and customer needs
Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, with occasional overnight travel as required
Commitment to safe, accurate, and ethical product recommendations

Nice To Haves

Three or more years of relevant industrial sales, application, fabrication, maintenance, or distribution experience
Existing relationships within the Charlotte-area industrial, manufacturing, construction, aggregate, or chemical-processing markets
Experience reading product specifications, chemical-resistance information, pressure ratings, and application data
Knowledge of industrial hose fabrication, coupling systems, conveyor belting, gaskets, seals, or related products
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, industrial technology, or a related field; equivalent directly relevant industry experience will also be considered

Responsibilities

Prospect for and qualify new customers within the assigned territory, focusing on industrial businesses that use hose, rubber, belting, fluid-conveyance, and related products
Apply the company’s five-stage sales methodology to identify opportunities, develop solutions, present proposals, gain new accounts, and expand existing accounts
Visit customer facilities and job sites to understand equipment, operating conditions, maintenance needs, and product applications
Ask the appropriate technical questions to determine the material being conveyed, pressure, temperature, chemical compatibility, abrasion, movement, connection, and environmental requirements
Recommend products and services that appropriately address the customer’s application and operational needs
Recognize applications requiring additional technical review and coordinate with internal specialists, suppliers, or manufacturers
Build productive relationships with maintenance teams, engineers, plant managers, purchasing personnel, contractors, and company leadership
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and profitability goals
Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline, call reports, account information, open-order follow-up, and sales forecasts
Work with inside sales and operations to prepare quotes, confirm specifications, coordinate fabrication, and communicate delivery expectations
Identify inventory requirements created by new or growing customer accounts and make appropriate stocking recommendations
Conduct product demonstrations and coordinate customer training when needed
Monitor competitor activity, market conditions, and industry developments within the territory
Become a trusted resource for customers in industrial hose, fluid conveyance, industrial rubber, and power-transmission applications
Submit required sales and activity reports accurately and on time
