About The Position

The Plant Engineering DI Technician is responsible for providing cultural leadership by exemplifying core values. This role involves coordinating, planning, and performing equipment preventative maintenance, repairs, and improvements. The technician will also manage contractors, provide technical guidance to other technicians, and be involved in SOP development and training. Additionally, they will support root cause investigations and the implementation of solutions. This position requires expertise in the conversion of city water to ultra-pure water, including various processes, equipment, and instrumentation such as chlorination, reclaim systems, ultra-filter sanitizations, ion exchange regeneration, HF neutralization, industrial waste neutralization, RO membranes, carbon filters, cation and anion exchange, mixed beds, vacuum degas, UV light systems, and ozone sterilization. Familiarity with a wide range of instrumentation is essential. The role also includes managing chemical deliveries, storage, and reviewing certificates of analysis. Developing annual plans for equipment areas and capital planning, ensuring site uptime and equipment reliability, and managing chemical inventory using FIFO principles are key aspects. Responsibilities extend to hazardous waste handling, resist canister changes, maintaining supply and quality parameters of chemical and slurry distributions, drum/tote/isotainer chemical offloading, chemical batch processing, and SPC chart monitoring. The technician will maintain equipment uptime through maintenance and troubleshooting of systems including valves, filters, piping, pumps, and instrumentation. Operating system equipment via HMI for batch creation and distribution, monitoring and operating HVAC equipment, and responding to key equipment like boilers, cooling towers, and chillers are also part of the role. Other critical equipment includes scrubber systems, fire systems, vacuum, and compressed air. The technician will operate the DI water plant, perform system rounds, rotate equipment, work within defined technical processes, and initiate continuous improvements. Upholding area upkeep and 5S principles, operating heavy machinery like forklifts and pallet jacks, collaborating cross-departmentally, escalating issues as required, completing preventative maintenance tasks, and maintaining records and reports are also included.

Requirements

  • 2 Year Technical/associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent military training/manufacturing work experience.
  • 5 years’ experience operating a waste water treatment systems.
  • 8-10 years related work experience- manufacturing or operations.

Responsibilities

  • Chlorination and dichlorination (SO2), reclaim systems, ultra filter sanitizations, ion exchange regeneration, HF neutralization, industrial waste neutralization, RO membranes, carbon filters, cation and anion exchange, mixed beds, vacuum degas, UV light system, and ozone sterilization.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation: conductivity, resistivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, TOC, LPC's flow meters, fluoride, ozone, chlorine, turbidity, pressure, silica, and temperature.
  • Unloading and receipt of chemical deliveries, storage of chemicals, review of certificate of analysis
  • Develop annual plans for activities within equipment area as well as capital planning
  • Ensure site uptime and equipment reliability.

  • Maintain equipment uptime through maintenance activities and troubleshooting of system equipment which include valves, filters, piping, pumps, instrumentation and other components.
  • Ability to operate system equipment via HMI for batch creation and - or distribution.
  • Ability to monitor and operate HVAC equipment and respond to key equipment such as boilers, cooling towers, and chillers which are critical for clean room operations.
