About The Position

This co-op position is within the Cosma group, which provides a comprehensive range of body, chassis, and engineering solutions to global customers. The role focuses on material flow within a manufacturing environment, aiming to develop industry-leading automotive technologies. The co-op will be involved in various projects related to material flow analysis and improvement, KPI tracking, and supporting engineering changes.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Co-op program in Supply Chain, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business (Operations/Supply Chain), or a related field.
  • Interest in Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts (coursework or project experience is an asset).
  • Ability to read basic layouts/drawings (CAD exposure is an asset).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerPoint and Visio (or similar flowcharting tools) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize data, identify trends, and summarize findings.
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and spending time on the plant floor.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines with guidance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate cross-functionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or project experience in Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts.
  • CAD exposure.
  • Experience with PowerPoint and Visio (or similar flowcharting tools).

Responsibilities

  • Collect baseline data and create process maps/spaghetti diagrams for a selected area, including recommendations.
  • Analyze inventory, WIP, and line-side stock data to identify drivers and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop a part-by-part replenishment & presentation opportunity plan, including point-of-use storage, FIFO lanes, supermarkets, delivery frequency, containerization, and routes.
  • Document proposed future-state standards, including new technology solutions like AMRs.
  • Build simple Excel dashboards to track agreed KPIs such as delivery frequency, space utilization, and material handling productivity.
  • Participate in 5S/Kaizen activities, capture actions, track completion, and update standard work/visual controls.
  • Help assess material flow impacts for packaging/BOM/point-of-use changes and support implementation tasks.
