Volvo Circular Charlotte specializes in the remanufacturing of Volvo/Mack diesel engines, Volvo Construction Equipment transmissions, and other Volvo Group sub-components. Under the direction of the Volvo Operations Concept, this role will support the Volvo/Mack remanufacturing factory with Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Support. The position acts as a functional Industrialization Engineer supporting the manufacturing maintenance of existing products, supporting new product industrializations, and improving current processes. All employees are responsible for the quality of their work and customer satisfaction and are expected to engage in active continuous improvement. Knowledge and understanding of workplace 5S and problem solving is required to prevent and correct situations that could reduce quality and customer satisfaction. Training, understanding, and support of VPS (Volvo Performance System) is required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with root cause analysis and problem solving.

  • Experience reading and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings.

  • B.S. in mechanical engineering (M.S.M.E. preferred) or equivalent engineering education.
  • At least five years of directly related experience.
  • Solid knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Proven Excel and data analysis experience.
  • Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Good administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor or team player.
  • Well-developed project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the brands and Engineering Manager to develop manage improve salvage methods.
  • Support the brands and Remanufacturing Engineers to develop, manage, and improve processes and systems.
  • Assists in the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems.
  • Performs product development activities including drawing board layout and interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Provides existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware in production.
  • Provides maintenance, support, and troubleshooting for any problems which may arise within the Operations Engineering scope.
  • Monitors process changes after implementation and offer additional recommendations for improvement as required.
  • Completes any ad hoc tasks as assigned by management and can lead cross-functional teams having less defined initial objective and scope.
  • Create and update bom and routings.
  • Provide continuous dialogue with production managers and remanufacturing engineers regarding salvage methods.
  • Support industrialization or new products to business.
  • Provides management with operations and engineering information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Mitigate roadblocks and risks to the factory meeting key performance indicators.
  • Perform Root cause analysis and kaizens to eliminate waste and improve quality.
