About The Position

This is a developmental position designed to provide the individual with the technical aspects of the business or discipline and the environment to exercise the practical application of their education and experience. The incumbent will have the opportunity for exposure to various facets of the business and to develop an in-depth understanding of the operations/function at the region or plant level. The role is responsible for evaluating and improving plant performance in the areas of safety, quality, production output, and operating costs. The position performs research, conducts experiments, gathers data, and develops preliminary findings. It involves studying current production facilities and recommending improvements utilizing the Boise Improvement Cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science is required, preferably in engineering, wood products, or business.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for in-house engineering feasibility studies, system trials, cost estimates, capital project planning, design, scheduling, and installations that optimize new and existing equipment.
  • Responsible for all aspects of capital project management.
  • Work closely with plant management and maintenance personnel to correct production issues and ensure operating efficiencies.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and openness to change and ability to anticipate problems and provide innovative solutions through data-driven analytics.
  • Maintain and gain relevant knowledge; keep abreast of industry standards, best practices, and technological advances that maximize operating efficiency.
  • May be responsible for environmental program, permits, audits, and administration.
  • May provide engineering oversight for development of software programs and functionality.
  • Communicate effectively in individual and group situations, adjusting language or terminology to the characteristics and needs of the audience.
  • Read and interpret Computer Aided Design drawings and blueprints.
  • Understand project management concepts, systems, and techniques.
  • Be a participative and influential team player in achieving desired production outcomes and organizational goals.
  • Ability to maintain sound judgment and stable performance under stress and/or opposition (e.g., time pressure, job ambiguity).
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
