About The Position

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temp. Full-Time Industrial Engineer to join our dynamic Operational Excellence team. The work of an Industrial Engineer is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role you will liaise with management and front-line staff to maximize operational performance and determine operational efficiencies by developing improved supply chain processes. You will be responsible for collaborating with process development specialists, supply chain operations, and project teams to identify, design, study, and implement changes that will drive efficiency and quality improvements. You will provide consultation in modeling, manufacturing expertise, analytics and reporting, maintain labor standards for the Supply Chain and liaise with finance for costing activities. You will play a lead role in the development and reporting of key performance indicators, identify and facilitate development of automated and other technological reporting solutions to improve efficiency and control.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Industrial Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain management, including experience in Lean concept implementation, cost accounting and business intelligence solutions.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience in time and motion direct labor measurement.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and processes.
  • Superior analytical skills and advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and data-modeling tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficient in maintaining regular communication with customers to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
  • Capable of tailoring communication style to suit various backgrounds and levels of understanding.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize project potential and communicate justification for investment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with supply chain staff to implement cost-saving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize industrial engineering expertise to develop, revise, and maintain accurate estimates of labor, tooling, and floor space requirements. Provide advice on new layout development and plant design.
  • Leverage knowledge of time-motion studies to develop and execute studies that determine optimal workflows for staff and materials, enhancing supply chain processes.
  • Implement and monitor labor standards for all equipment and processes, as well as continuous improvement (CI) standards for the supply chain, drawing on industry standards.
  • Assist in the delivery of CI training to supply chain management and front-line staff, utilizing training skills.
  • Document processes through process flow diagrams, charts, PFMEAs, and other analytical tools, harnessing analytical skills.
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards to assess the effectiveness of processes and site performance. Assist management and front-line staff in interpreting dashboard data to identify opportunities for improvement.
