About The Position

Yanfeng is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join their team. This role involves ownership of current plant layout, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the Floor Space Planning Tool (FSPT) and AutoCAD® standards. The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for developing lean flow proposals and improvements, supporting new business layout planning, and managing warehouse requirements using the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) Matrix. The position also includes planning indirect labor using Flow Planner® software, supporting Materials & SCM groups with line side racking and material flow decisions, and performing Value Stream Mapping. Additionally, the role involves Kaizen support and leadership for lean flow and space utilization improvements, conducting direct and indirect labor time studies (MODAPTS®, work sampling), and performing new program direct and indirect labor planning. The Industrial Engineer will also maintain a database of time studies and support plant improvement initiatives. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with moving heavy parts, supporting line product changes, and supervising Yanfeng interns. All employees are expected to understand and meet Quality, EHS, Product Safety, Compliance, and Information Security requirements, comply with company policies, work additional hours as needed, multitask, interact professionally, and maintain regular attendance.

Requirements

  • 2-5 Minimum Years of Experience within Engineering.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
  • AutoCAD experience essential.
  • Strong computer skills required (Microsoft Office, Visio, etc).
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills – ability to work in a matrix organization and effectively lead projects without direct positional authority is required.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork (verbal and documentation) skills – ability to write clear and concise technology documentation is required.
  • Flexible work with regional plant visits as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience driving productivity improvements through robotics, AGV’s, automated material handling, warehousing, and machine vision.
  • Experience utilizing simulation and digital factory tools for material flow, inventory, staffing, and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

  • Current plant layout ownership – ensure accuracy / alignment with Floor Space Planning Tool (FSPT).
  • Alignment of plant layout drawing with AutoCAD® standards.
  • Lean flow proposals / improvements to overall facility flow.
  • New business (Phase 2-5) layout support – defining where new business fits in the plant.
  • Warehouse requirements planning utilizing Plan for Every Part (PFEP) Matrix.
  • Indirect labor planning for plant utilizing Flow Planner® software.
  • Support Materials & SCM groups with line side racking decisions, supermarket flow, kitting, and part delivery methods.
  • Adherence to guidelines and standards for internal logistics / material flow.
  • Value Stream Mapping – current and future state with plan for gap closure.
  • Kaizen support – CI project collaboration.
  • Kaizen leadership for lean flow / density / floor space utilization improvements.
  • Direct labor time studies / MODAPTS® / line balancing.
  • New program direct labor planning, including reviews of “Process Book” with AME.
  • Indirect labor time studies / work sampling / work balancing.
  • New program indirect labor planning, including use of Flow Planner® software.
  • Maintenance of a central database of all MODAPTS® / time studies for the plant.
  • Support plant key improvement initiatives and IE functional projects as required.
  • May be involved in helping to move heavy parts within plants.
  • May assist line with product changes to meet specifications.
  • May have Yanfeng interns assigned to them for supervisory development and project coordination.
