The Role: We are seeking a hands-on Industrial Engineer to improve manufacturing performance by executing time studies, building and maintaining estimating labor tools for accurate routings and driving data-backed process improvements for an engineered to order business. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, planning, and quality to standardize work, reduce waste, and ensure our routings reflect the true cost of production.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, industrial technology or equivalent highly preferred but experience in lieu of education is acceptable.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with BOM/routing maintenance in an ERP system.
  • Experience creating detailed standard work/work instructions.
  • CAD drafting software experience and ability to read and interpret layout drawings.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in MS Excel or comparable spreadsheet/data analysis software.
  • Working knowledge of Lean/CI tools.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of certification standards (ISO, TS, etc.) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct detailed direct and indirect labor time studies using accepted methods (predetermined, stopwatch, etc.)
  • Establish/maintain standard work, work instructions, and labor and cycle time estimating tools.
  • Identify value-added vs. non-value-added work; quantify cycle time, setup/changeover time, utilization and bottlenecks.
  • Own the integrity of and routings in the ERP/MES: operations, sequence, work centers, setup/run times, move/queue, and yield/scrap factors.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to ensure changes are accurately reflected in routing data.
  • Partner with accounting on cost rolls, ensuring labor/machine standards drive correct standard cost.
  • Create/maintain templates for new product introductions (NPI) to accelerate launch readiness.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and structured problem-solving using lean tools.
  • Reduce cycle time, WIP, defects, and changeover time with practical solutions
  • Support capacity planning, line balancing, and material flow optimization to meet demand.
  • Document improvements and train operators/techs to sustain gains.
