About The Position

The Industrial Engineer plays a critical role in driving operational excellence across our manufacturing operations. This role focuses on eliminating waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy, and other non–value-added resources. You will develop, recommend, and implement changes that improve manufacturing processes, throughput, and product quality. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably high-volume or complex operations.
  • Demonstrated background in Continuous Improvement (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, problem solving, root cause analysis).
  • Experience documenting standardized work procedures and ensuring adherence on the shop floor.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Lean Manufacturing concepts (e.g., value stream mapping, line balancing, waste reduction, visual management).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and convert insights into actionable improvements.
  • Proficiency with Excel and other data analysis tools to manipulate, analyze, and visualize production and scheduling data.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, maintenance, and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be able to work on a rotating/flexible shift (1st, 2nd or 3rd), as well as overtime and weekends, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Knowledge of human factors engineering and ergonomic analysis and how to apply these principles to workstation and process design.
  • Experience working in a union or bargaining-unit environment, with an understanding of contract considerations in process and staffing changes.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided drafting and simulation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, C-draw or similar) for layout design, line balancing, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES), scheduling tools, or other digital manufacturing systems.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, statistical analysis).
  • Prior experience supporting new model launches, equipment installations, or major process changes in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze Manufacturing Master Schedules at a level of detail sufficient to monitor progress, assess program status, and proactively identify performance and capacity issues.
  • Apply critical path methodology to build and analyze network schedules, identify constraints, and drive timely problem resolution.
  • Optimize sequence of operations and workflow to improve throughput, balance lines, and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Create and maintain crew plans to ensure labor and equipment resources are properly allocated and utilized effectively.
  • Define, track, and report key metrics to monitor schedule adherence, production performance, and risk areas; recommend and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead and support waste elimination and process improvement initiatives using Lean and continuous improvement tools.
  • Perform data analysis (e.g., takt time, cycle time, capacity, downtime, scrap) to establish shop-level metrics and solve complex manufacturing problems.
  • Document, maintain, and improve standardized work procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams to provide technical support and troubleshooting for equipment, processes, and layout changes.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and production associates to identify improvement opportunities, validate solutions, and support sustainable implementation.
  • Support and champion a safety-first culture, incorporating ergonomic and human factors considerations in process and workstation design (as applicable).
