Northrop Grumman•Elkton, MD
•$98,900 - $185,000•Onsite

About The Position

Northrop Grumman is hiring a Principal or Sr. Principal Industrial Engineer for its Propulsion Systems and Controls facility in Elkton, Maryland. The facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems for government and commercial customers, and supports offsite engineering and test facilities. The engineer analyzes and designs production workflows, operating sequences, and equipment layouts to improve efficiency, throughput, and producibility in plant and solid rocket motor production operations. The role establishes methods to maximize use of facilities, equipment, and personnel; leads continuous improvement; and uses production data and manufacturing execution system (MES) integration to remove bottlenecks, standardize processes and metrics, and sustain improvements. It also develops and implements facility and operating-method changes, supports accident prevention, and recommends production training programs. The position may grow into a continuous-improvement and producibility champion and shop-systems expert. The position is available at Principal or Sr. Principal level, depending on qualifications. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance and be U.S. citizens. Because the role falls under a federal explosives license for the location, hires must submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval. Relocation assistance may be available, and travel is 10%.
